Senior Citizen Fellowship

St. Thomas Senior Citizen Fellowship

The St Thomas Orthodox Church is one of the few churches with a Senior Citizen Fellowship amongst the Orthodox churches in Bangalore. St.Thomas Senior Citizens Fellowship (STSCF) is an organization by the Senior Citizens of St.Thomas Orthodox Maha Edavaka Bangalore East. Our Church Senior members met the then Vicar Rev.Fr.K.M Jacob and  discussed  creating a forum for seniors. After careful discussion and  deliberations  this organisation  was formally announced in September 2014.  Details like membership,eligibility criteria and possible areas where the forum could support the spiritual and community needs of the members and the elders of the Parish as a whole were defined. Any member of the Parish above 60 years automatically becomes a member, even if their spouse is below 60 years. The STSCF Operation Guidelines is approved by the  Church General Body and Dioceson Metropolitan His Grace Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim.

 

Activities:        

On the Second Saturday of every month, the STSCF Members meet under the leadership of the Vicar (President). The meeting includes Prayer, Devotional messages, Bible reading,Singing, and we especially pray for the members whose birthdays fall in that month.

Annual Day 

STSCF Annual day is celebrated every year where the Chief Guest gives a Devotional message and STSCF honors  members who have attained the age of 80.years above

Feeding the Hungry

STSCF distributes  food to the poor and needy every Sunday in our surrounding area. Our members contribute regularly to support this and other charitable projects. 

Other activities

Small groups of our members  visit the elderly members of our Parish.  STSCF also visits charity and mission centers and supports these projects. Retreat and devotional talks are arranged as well as talks on healthcare and senior citizen health management.
