This year we started with 9 inmates studying in classes 2nd to 10th in Kannada and English Medium Schools. The children are enrolled in Veerabhadra Kannada Medium School and St.Joseph’s English Medium School. Out of this, one student completed 10th standard during the academic year 2022-2023. The students are provided with laptops and Wi-Fi connection, which are sponsored by our church members, to facilitate and enhance their learnings.
We are blessed to have the full-time commitment and service of the caretakers Mr. Ivan and Mrs. Irene at the Boys Home. Their assistance and excellent service is highly appreciated.
The Boys’ Home children and the care takers were invited for all important church events like Sangamam and Christmas Socials. The children actively took part in cultural activities and different games. They were also gifted with clothes and sweets.
To improve the visibility of our Trust and to increase the donations received, the Trustees decided to approach Corporates for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Funds. For that the Trustees took the help of Mr. George Abraham, our church member who leads the CSR projects of L&T and submitted a proposal for the same during the financial year 2021-2022. During this financial year, we could get the CSR Funds from two corporates - L&T and Rosemount Shipping (India) Pvt. Ltd.
The SANTHOME Youth of our Church as part of their activities has been very supportive by contributing donations and conducting other entertainment activities for the Boys’ Home children. Youth Groups and Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MMVS) of other churches & institutions have also been very supportive by making donations and conducting other entertainment activities.
We place on record, with deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary gift from one of our parish member bestowed upon St. Thomas Charities, a 3600 sqft land with a 3 storey building to use for the Boys’ Home. This building has 6 bedrooms and other facilities. The registration of this property was done on 17th March 2023 and the blessing ceremony was conducted on 26th March 2023 by our Vicar Rev. Fr. Koshy Thomas with the consent from the Chairman, H G Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim, in his absence.
The entire congregation of St.Thomas Orthodox Maha Edavaka will forever be indebted for this well-wisher’s kindness and treasure this home as a symbol of love and generosity that he and his family has shown to us. We pray for abundant blessings to be showered upon them. May God bless them with good health, happiness and prosperity.
On March 18th 2023, the CSR team from L&T visited Boys’ home to hand over utensils and stationeries needed.
We deeply appreciate the incredible privilege the landlord of the old premises gave us by letting us function the Boys’ Home in his premises for the past 16 years which has been a true blessing for St. Thomas Charities. We wish him continued success, good health, and happiness in all his endeavours.
We acknowledge the contributions from families, individuals and institutions who volunteered for many requirements of the Boys’ Home. Cash donations were received as sponsorship for education, food, clothing, and also as part of birthday celebrations, wedding anniversaries and remembrances of their loved ones.
Once again, on behalf of the St. Thomas Charities, we are immensely grateful to each of them who have contributed towards this noble cause. We acknowledge with thanks the support of all who are directly or indirectly a part of this project.
